Dress Up

Grandma Marianne came in town on the 29th, so Edy got to open all her birthday presents that Granda had sent earlier. Boy did she get dress up - it's Fantasy Island meets Pirates of the Caribbean at our house.

The swelling is going down and his actual features are beginning to emerge. My Dad says he looks like me. :-)

E...D...Y

I forgot to write yesterday, but Edy wrote her name for the first time! Kind of spontaneously. She said "I'm going to write Edy," and then wrote it. Granted, the D looked a little O'ish, but the E and the Y were completely recognizable.
She tried to go all the way for the "the" on the end, but the T wound up looking like a banana, so we stopped there and had a good laugh.

New Addition

At 3:18 on Saturday, May 21, we added another person to our family. Edison Michael Repka-Kolanowski was born at Group Health Family Beginnings Unit in Seattle Washington, (but just barely). He weighed 9 lbs 4 ounces, and was 21 inches tall. He has a lot of hair (at least compared to Edy when she came out), and really long fingers and toes. Edison appears to be eating well, and Mom seems to be doing better than after Edy's birth, for which Dad is very grateful. They both came home from the hospital the next day.

Edy is doing a fantastic job transitioning to being a big sister, saying "I'm going to wash my hands so I can touch the baby." She likes to kiss him and talks about doing things with baby Edison all the time. Grandma Tonjia has been a great help, she's been here for about a week, Edy loves her, and she is staying another week to help out with newborn. Grandma Marianne arrives a day later for a week, so we are excited and welcoming of all the help.

Legally blonde...

...the toddler years. So much pink, so much blonde. So much cute.

3 yr Checkup Stats

Except for the cough, very healthy. And no shots! She also had her first vision test, which Mom said she enjoyed.

She is still on antibiotics for another 5 days, but no more waking up coughing at night, and she has lots of energy.

Sick Girls

All the girls at the house have been sick for the past couple of days - not fun. Mom has pneumonia, so she feels just fantastic, and Edy has a nasty cough and a fever between 100.5 and 105. Luckily medication seems to control the fever and keep it below 103, she is going to the doctor again today.

It's amazing to me how resilient both of them are. Edy still runs around the house with a smile on her face, though at nighttime she is pretty miserable awake with coughing, and Mom is up and around as well. I would just be sitting on the sofa moaning if I was either one of them.

I hope we can all be healthy by the time Michael Jr decides to make an appearance.

The Next Picasso

Notice how it is so obviously joyous, yet tinged with sarcasm. I think the artist is saying the world is a happy place, but only if you can laugh at it's follies.

It's hard...

Edy takes a cup of water and walks out of the bathroom into her bedroom. Two minutes later she comes back in and says "Daddy, it's hard to be careful."

School Pictures

Mom got Edy dressed in a pretty dress for Co-op Preschool pictures - a rare picture opportunity (she doesn't put on pretty dresses very often.) Look for the official portrait soon.

Thoughts on Pooping

Big Night

Yesterday Edy decided that she didn't need her pacifiers any more. We had a plan to have her give them to her dentist, we even scheduled a dropoff at the dentist office. But Edy interrupted those plans. Instead, we went to the toy store and gave the cashier all our binkies in exchange for a pink tutu. She loves it, and only takes it off when we make her. Anyway, bedtime last night was hard, but I think that was more due to he fact she is all stuffed up and snotty. She only asked for her binky once and dropped it as soon as I reminded her that she gave them away.
