Edy's Little Brother

Not out of the womb yet, he is already uncooperative, so not a very good photo, but there he is. Dad tried to get a money shot, but Mom said that would be uncouth. We're very excited!

Riding the Carrot-sel

The whole family went downtown on Sunday to look at the lights and trees and decorations and such. We rode the carousel which Edy couldn't quite figure out how to pronounce (and maybe I don't know how to spell, but spellcheck is agreeing with me).
We also were going to go for a carriage ride, but Edy took a look at the 7' tall Clydesdale and decided she wasn't very interested. It was getting late anyway so we headed home. We are going to try again later and approach from the carriage side next time instead.

In Texas

Just a pic of Dad and Edy.

At the Dallas Aquarium

They had this really cool tank where you could stand on both sides.

Growing Up

It seems Edy experienced some sort of language explosion in the one day I was gone to Portland. I came back and she seems to be articulating complex thoughts and forming longer sentences. She said today "I am going to put the diaper in the diaper pail." whereas before she would just say "diaper pail" in the form of a question.
I thing she also is able to conceptualize better and describe things abstractly, and in fact, use the word "thing".
She also looks more beautiful, in more of a little girl way than in a baby cute way.
Of course there is no way I am biased.

Halloween Update Part 2

So it seems the blog only posted genomics and not the text hat went with it, so here it is.
Edy had her pick of costumes at Halloween this year. Mom got her a Ladybug and a Chicken costume. You can see she picked which one she wanted to wear as the mood struck her.
She really got into pumpkin carving. At least the stabbing part. And she loves to eat pumpkin seeds. Our jack-o-lanterns look hey have really bad acne scars.
The next one is Edy in her chicken outfit with D, her BFF in her duck costume. There was much fun and barnyard noises.
The last two are on actual Halloween. We missed the parade, but Mom did take her trick or treating, and Edy did bring home a little candy. Before you ask, Dad did not get any of her candy. Edy DID figure out how many licks it takes to get to the center of a tootsie pop that evening, but I don't think she's had anything since.
The last photo is of Edy and T, her school and child care buddy. He took the chicken costume since Edy was feeling buggy that evening.

Best Dad Moments

So Edy has been waking up next to me on some mornings since she has been sick a lot recently (and gets into bed with me in the middle of the night) and since she sometimes comes in and snuggles with me before we get up on the morning. On Sunday, we were snuggling and she rolled over and looked at me, our faces were abou 4 inches apart. I smiled at her, and although she was sucking on her binky and I couldn't see her mouth, I could see in her eyes that she had a big grin on her face. I leaned over and kissed her on the forehead. In response she took her binky out of her mouth, leaned over, and kissed me on the lips.

There aren't many moments in life that can top that one. At least I haven't had many.

Mmmmm, Chicken and Chocolate Pudding

I missed the picture where she actually dipped it in the pudding.

Petting the Bunnies

They were very soft. We also petted some goats and saw baby pigs and an alpaca.

At the farm

Today we went or the farm. Otherwise known as the pumpkin patch - to get Halloween pumpkins and have assorted fall fun. Edu was miserable in the morning, it was 39 degrees until the sun warmed up, but she had fun "driving" the tractor and got to pet bunnies. It was a good morning.

At the Conservatory

Haven't posted in a while. This is Edy and I at the Conservatory at Volunteer Park yesterday. She really liked touching the flowers, and not touching the cactus. We met my friend for lunch afterward, and she had some Greek chicken skewers, which she loved.

All Dressed Up For the Playground

Edy picked this outfit herself for going to breakfast this morning. It is a little formal for the playground, but I think the fashion police will forgive it.

BFFs at the Zoo

This photo is from last weekend when we took D to the zoo with us. There is a boat next to the penguin exhibit that serves as a mini playground inside the zoo.

New Favorite Blanket

We opened a package from Grandma Marianne tonight and found that Grandma made Edy a new blanket. This is us reading stories before bed, and she has it on top of her right now as she is sleeping.

Not a Good Idea

So Edy has been sleeping in our bed these past few nights since she has been waking herself up with a hacking cough. Last night, I was setting expectations and saying:
"Tonight you are going to stay in you own bed aaalllll night. Does that sound like a good idea?"
Her reply:
"That is noottt a good idea!"

Mom made homemade Oreo cookies (note the creamy filling mustache) that we enjoyed with tea this weekend.

Edy and Mom Leaving

Edy was a little nervous about the train before it got moving, but Mom said she perked right up once they got going.

Dad at Home this Weekend

Mom and Edy went to Portland for the weekend to see Mom's Aunt Beverly, and Dad is by himself until Sunday at noon, and doesn't quite know what to do. He hasn't has this much alone time in a long while. Did some painting today, and some errand running, have to do some work tomorrow, but then what?

Apartment For Use

Hello anyone who is reading. As you may know, our renter moved out early in August, and our next person will not be moving in until mid-October, which means we have a whole apartment available for visitors for the month of September. If you are so inclined to visit (and who really wouldn't want to visit the amazing 2 year old that lives in our house) now is the time to save on hotel room costs and get thee to Seattle. We are now taking reservations, and need about 3 days notice. Come for the weekend, come for a few weeks. This special offer won't last long. Hope we see you.

No Matter How Hard I Try

I cannot get this girl coordinated. I got her to wear everything for this outfit - except she had to pick her own sock. The one time she doesn't want the pink socks...

This is at the playground at the farmers market.

At the Park

Edythe looks very cute in her dress, but Dad discovered they are not very good for park play. She stepped on the inside of her dress when she was climbing. She learned pretty quick to pick up her dress though. She looked kind of like a southern bell climbing stairs after a while.

Edy's Going to be a Good Chef like her Mom

Maybe she needs a kitchen for Christmas. This is her at a birthday party for Ewen.

"Bye bye Dada, I will play with you tomorrow. We'll play catch and I will laugh."

Let's try Again

So Dad is trying out this post from mobile phone thing, and it has some bugs. Please excuse the last few wired posts - they have been corrected in the actual blog page. This post is a new method which will hopefully work better.

Edy thinks this is how you smile.

First Sleepover

Edy is having her first sleep over tonight at the Radens while Mom and Dad are out on the town celebrating 4 years of marriage! Yea!
