Edison's Mirror

This is Edison's favorite toy while sitting up. He entertains himself looking at the "other" baby in the mirror.

Week of Firsts

Edison has had lots of firsts this week.

On Sunday, he had his first food. Mashed sweet potato and momma milk. He was not impressed.

On Tuesday, he rolled over for the first time, though nobody saw it. Mom happened to be turned around, and no one else was home. He hasn't done it again.

That same night was his first night sleeping unswaddled. He still can't figure out what to do with his arms when he is in bed.

Also this week, he has begun to sit up on his own. He is pretty much stable until he has to reach far to the right or left, then he takes a tumble. Or if he gets too excited and kicks his legs, he's headed backward. But stayed up for about 20 minutes on his own today.

Things kids say...

Edy: "Daddy!"
Dad, no yet turning around: "Yes Sweety?"
Thunk.
Edy: "Ow"

Kids say the Darndest things...

Dad at bedtime: "Did you cooperate with momma for bath and teeth brushing?"
Edy: "Ummm, I assume so."

Catch Up Pictures

From about 3 weeks ago. Edy loves to hug on her brother.

Monkey

Edy is getting very interested and adept at climbing. The part of this that I like the most is that she tried this same thing about 10 minutes earlier, and she got scared and I needed to get her down. Then she starts climbing again and has no problem, while I'm 8 feet away filming.

Trick or Treat

This one is from Halloween night. Edy and her BFF in costume at one of our local businesses getting candy. Edy went as a princess of course, her BFF went as pro-feminist Wonder Woman.

P.S. It is scary that Edy has the sorority girl pose down so soon.

Album Cover

Tashana took he kids for a walk and did some a self shot rap album cover circa 1992. Edison is obviously the crazy one, Edy is the smart aleck, and Tashana is the GrandMaster.

Blueish?

I though this was advanced, though I have no idea if it's true.

Edy was looking at a can of whipped cream at dinner (we were having fruity crepes, so no comments please), and there was a watercolor picture on the can with some shadowing on the whipped cream.
Edy says "That's purple." I say "What's purple sweetie?
She says "No, it's blueish."
Which is exactly what it was.

Deep Conversation

Edy sees a girl at swim class in the locker room.

Edy: "Hi Maya.."
Maya: "Hi. "
Edy: "You have drums on your shirt..."
Maya: "I know."

Edison's 4 month Checkup

Confirmed the obvious. He is big. Totally off the charts on height. No one is taller than my boy! He did very well at vaccination time. He didn't cry after the first needle stick (I think he was too stunned), but number 2 and 3 really hurt. He was OK after about 3 minutes.

First Pony Ride

Edy has had the opportunity to ride a pony 2 or 3 times now, but has been a little to intimidated. This time, she waited in line and jumped on at the first opportunity. I walked beside her, it was a bit of a rough ride, with no stirrups, so she shifted back and forth a lot, and I tried to make sure she didn't sway too far to one side. She said it was her favorite part of the day. :-)

E Portraits

So our friend Ann at the party as taking pictures, and she shot these super awesome portraits of Edison and Momma. Go buy a frame, because these are picture perfect.

At the farm...

Like I said, kittens, horses (they had the big ones too, but Edy was still a little afraid of those), and bouncy castles. Oh, but I forgot to mention the rope swing!

Edison's First Birthday Party

Edy's friend had a birthday party at a well groomed farm this past weekend. It was a great spot for a toddler party - baby kittens, horses, chickens, and even a bouncy castle (they really know their audience). Edison had a rough morning, didn't nap in he stroller, and was very cranky. Until the party hats came out...

Edison Stands! The Fairy Queen bows at the wondrous sight!

He's getting strong enough to support his own weight. At least for a minute or so. Daddy provides the critical upright bracing required. (and that's Edy with the wings in case you couldn't tell)

A Few Weeks of Summer

Is all we had this year. Still, Edy made the most of it with trips to the beach and to our kiddie pool in the front yard.

Mother and Son

This photo is about 6 weeks old by now.

High School Candid

A while back, a friend of ours posted a picture of heir 3 year old looking very adult; and it was a little scary. This is my version - I can picture his being Edy's high school expression. Maybe ballerina will be back in style then. He hair will probably remain as is.

Photos by Edy

Edison never seems to smile for the camera, only for people (and everyone gets a smile - the little flirt). But that means it is very difficult to get pitures of him smiling. These are pictures taken by Edy while Edison is smiling at me standing over him. Still cute! - from about a month ago.

Siblings

This is the home screen picture on my phone. Notice the slightly maniacal, but still cute expression on Edy's face, and the look of pre-panic on Edison's. This is typical of when Edy wants to love on her little brother. She means well, but she doesn't quite understand it might upset Edison when she holds his hand and won't let go.

More cutie photos of Edison

From about three weeks ago. He has started standing up, stretching his legs out. He does a lot of kicking. If only we could capture that energy - we could power the world He can almost get his hand into his mouth consistently. Almost. He still hasn't quite figured out those are his feet he is looking at. And we are still working on getting a good grip on the toys as they make their way to his mouth.

Dancing

I really hope this comes through. This is Edy rockin' out to her favorite band, The Not It's, while in her pink ballet outfit. We are saving this one to show at her wedding.

Edison Pics

I have been remiss in not posting enough photos of this super cutie. These are from last week. He laughed for the first time after I did a zerbit on his tummy on the changing table.

TP Castle

Edy and I built a castle yesterday. Awesome!

Kids Say the Darndest Things Part 1

Tashana and I are trading places to read stories to Edy, and as she gets up, Tashana says, "move over to make room for Daddy".

Edy says "But Daddy's bottom is smaller than Momma's bottom."

Fat Lip

Edy was running full speed down a back alleyway that was unpaved. Lots of big rocks and gravel. To her credit, she ran about 100 yards before she caught a sandal edge and splayed out face first, sacrificing some knee, hand, and inside of her mouth the the skin gods. She also recovered really well, only a couple of minutes before she was laughing again.

Edy @ Swim Class

Of course she won't do this when we take her swimming, but she'll just jump at the blink of an eye in class.

He's Our Baby

Edy was telling her friend that was over today about Edison. She told her "You can touch him, but he is our baby. You can't take him home with you. He's our baby." At least she's not trying to sell him to the gypsies, at least not consciously.

He's not shrinking

Almost 15 lbs at 2 months old. We've got to look it up, but I don't think Edy hit 15 lbs until about 5 months. I think he is about half her weight right now.

One of My Favorite Ways...

to have Edison nap. On this occasion, he took a two and a half hour nap while laying on my chest. Awesome. The napkin is from where Mom served me lunch. Joy. The only downfall is that at some time, even Dad has to go to the potty.

A Lot of Catching Up

So we got a new camera, which means the iPhone has not been the primary photographic documentation; which means I have to sit in front of the computer blah blah blah excuse excuse. Here are some recent pics and happenings...

Momma and Edison. He is almost consistently holding his head up on his own at 6 weeks.

Our Baby is Growing Up

Today was the first day of Zoo Camp. Edy went all by herself for 3 hours to the zoo and did lots of cool things. It was the first time she went by herself some place for that long where we/she didn't already know someone.

She told Mom she wanted her to go with her to camp, and then she took all of ten minutes of having fun to realize she didn't need Mom around. She's all grown up already. :-(

A Couple of Firsts

Last night, Dad got to put Edison to sleep for the night for the first time. He downed 6 oz of fresh Momma's Milk before zoning out for 8 hours! - another first! I won't pretend to think there was any causation, at least not publicly.

Unfortunately, he went out at 8, and Mom and Dad didn't get to bed until 11, so we didn't get the 8 hours of sleep, but still promising!

Look Dad! Ladybugs!

Edy Dancing

At Seattle Center. Photo credit to Auntie Ann.

Pic Fix

Sorry I haven't been posting more we got a new camera and we have been taking photos on hat one instead of my phone.
